On a Zoom meeting working for the Township.
Trustee Debbie Stanley
Committed to Expecting Better for Makanda Township
My name is Debbie Stanley and I have lived in and around Makanda since 1977. In 1988 I bought my home in Makanda and have lived in it since. I came to Southern Illinois in 1974 from Galesburg, Illinois to attend SIU. I graduated from SIU in 1979 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Anthropology. In 1980 I was hired by the United States Postal Service as a clerk. I have held many positions within the organization including Lead Clerk, Supervisor, and Officer In Charge (temporary Postmaster) at the Buncombe and Brookport offices. I was also called upon to teach Window Service Training classes and to train clerks on the job. I retired from the USPS in 2009.

Why would I want to be a Makanda Township Trustee?
Because:
-
I Expect Better from Makanda Township government and will work toward achieving that end.
-
I would like to be of service to my township and its citizens.
-
I feel there needs to be more transparency in what is going on in the township government.
-
I would like to see the minutes of the township meetings put on the township website and posted in the Makanda Post Office.
-
I would like to get the word out that we have a township website and a General Assistance Fund for those in need.
-
I would like the people to feel welcomed to come to the township board meetings to voice any concerns they have about road conditions, etc. and,
-
I would like the people of the Makanda Township to see that their tax dollars are being spent in the best way possible to support them.
I will do my best to serve if elected!
