Clay Kolar for Trustee
Makanda Township: COMMUNITY FORWARD
Accountability and transparency are key components of successful oversight in public governance. As a trustee for eight years, I have worked diligently to ensure fair and equal checks and balances for all elected positions. If re- elected I plan to further enhance accountability by focusing on policies that will handle conflicts of interest, accessibility of Township records, and expand our financial transparency. To continue to better the future and community of Makanda it is imperative that we make decisions that modernize our practices. We need strong leadership open to change.
The last 2021 election showed that the community trusted us with change. We strongly feel that our majority has made great improvements to our community. One effective improvement is the Financial Planning Advisory Committee, charged with formulating short-term and long-term priorities for Makanda Township government, with a planning vision, guidelines, actions, timetables and rationales for implementing those priorities.
Another addition, which was finally accomplished by a direct citizen initiative at our last annual meeting, is the centralization of historical township records in one office space giving all trustees, and the public, access to review records to make informed decisions and conclusions. With effective financial transparency in place, we can focus on creating additional policies in a straightforward, open, consistent, honest, and legal manner to keep Makanda moving forward.
